Ice Spice shows out on SNL: A Review

Ice Spice has become this larger than life figure in the music industry. After it was announced that she is gunning for awards at the upcoming 2024 Grammys, it seems like the rapper is determined to put herself in as many spaces as possible. What better way to do that then be a musical guest for the long-running sketch comedy series on television.

For all you SNL fans, you know the drill, the host is usually the one to introduce the musical guest prior but the Oct. 14th audience got a special treat. Taylor Swift, whose concert film made a big splash at the box office, was instead on-screen as the celeb to introduce Ice Spice’s performance. Ice Spice opened with ‘Pretty' Girl’, her most recently-released track that features Nigerian rapper and singer Rema (who was in attendance on stage). See below for the live performance:

I really enjoyed the song and it just proves Ice Spice’s range as a collaborator. What caught my attention was the performance set up for ‘Pretty Girl’. On stage, you see the two with pink

Next up, she performed the song ‘In Ha Mood’. I would’ve LOVED to have seen her perform ‘Princess Diana’ though. (with a surprise cameo from Nicki Minaj?!). Though, I know this would only happen in my dreams . It seems like the Bronx-native has further cemented her status as New York drill royalty after her SNL musical guest-debut. I have a feeling that she will return much sooner than anticipated. Could we see her pulling double duty as a host and musical guest? (Similar to a Drake, Kanye West, or Ariana Grande-type situation). The future looks seemingly bright for her so it seems as if nothing is off the table.

How do you think Ice Spice did? Let us know!
